Information Reference on the Draft Law of Ukraine “On Amendments to Certain Laws of Ukraine Regarding Military Service by Persons Released on Parole from Serving a Sentence for the Purpose of Contract Military Service” (No. 15225 dated 11 May 2026)
Published on 22 June 2026, 15:00Abstract. The information reference examines the legal justification for the possibility of expanding the scope of rights of servicemen from among persons released on parole from serving a sentence for the purpose of contract military service. The study was conducted in the context of the proposals provided for in the Draft Law of Ukraine No. 15225 dated 11 May 2026.
The compliance of the Draft Law with the requirements of the Constitution of Ukraine and the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the established rules of legislative drafting, provisions of current legislation that determine the basic principles of state policy in the field of social protection of military personnel and members of their families, as well as military service in Ukraine.
The results of the study revealed risks that may further complicate the proper implementation of the law during law enforcement activities, the achievement of the objective declared therein of improving the legal regulation of the procedure for military service under a contract by persons paroled from serving a sentence, equalizing their legal status with other categories of military personnel.
