Deepening cooperation with Slovenian colleagues

On September 26–27, 2024, as part of a study visit to the Republic of Slovenia, a delegation of the Research Service of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine visited the National Assembly (Parliament) of the Republic of Slovenia at the invitation of the Secretary General of the Parliament Ursula Zore Tavcar, where members of the delegation had the opportunity to share their experience with colleagues from the Research and Documentation Division of the Parliament and borrow best practices in the preparation of information and analytical materials, as well as experience of cooperation with parliaments of foreign states within the framework of the European Centre for Parliamentary Research and Documentation (ECPRD). In addition, representatives of the Research Service met with Deputy Chair of the Committee on EU Affairs Andrey Hoivik and Chair of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Ukraine Dean Premik, with whom they discussed the possibility of participation of Slovenian legislators in a series of trainings for the Ukrainian MPs and employees of the Secretariat of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on the adaptation of national legislation to the EU acquis.

Also, the delegation of the Research Service held a meeting at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia with Andrej Engelman, former deputy head of the EU accession negotiation team, and got acquainted with the mechanism of interaction between the government and the parliament of the state during the negotiation process. Representatives of the Research Service also met with the Dean of the Faculty of Law of the University of Ljubljana Sasa Zagorc, where they discussed the issues of inter-institutional cooperation in the context of organizing trainings on the harmonization of legislation with the law of the European Union.
