Webinar on Access to OECD Resources to Support the Effective Work of the Parliament of Ukraine
26 September 2025, 09:00
A webinar on parliamentary access to the resources of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) was held, jointly organized by the OECD and the Research Service of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
Opening the event, Oleksandr Korniyenko, First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and Chair of the Parliamentary Group of Friends of the OECD in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, highlighted the crucial importance of OECD cooperation for Ukraine in the current context of recovery and reform. He stressed that access to the Organisation’s tools and expertise offers new opportunities for modernizing the country, strengthening institutions, and aligning Ukraine’s legal and economic systems with international standards. For parliament, he noted, this is also an opportunity to apply proven approaches and international best practices in the legislative process.
During the webinar, Silvia Terrón, Head of the External Engagement Unit, Communications Directorate, OECD, presented the Organisation’s main areas of activity. She emphasized that the OECD brings together 38 member countries, serving as a leading platform for developing global standards, exchanging knowledge, and sharing best practices. Anita Richter, Head of the Ukraine Unit, Global Relations and Cooperation Directorate, OECD, introduced participants to the OECD-Ukraine Country Programme for 2023–2027, designed to support reforms, recovery, and institutional resilience, including through policy reviews, transparency instruments, and anti-corruption initiatives.
A special session was devoted to the OECD Global Parliamentary Network, which connects parliamentarians and parliamentary staff from more than 90 countries. The Network fosters dialogue, knowledge exchange, and joint responses to global challenges, creating opportunities for closer international parliamentary cooperation.
The webinar concluded with a presentation by Terri Mitton, Head of the Digital Visual Communications Unit and Creative Director, Communications Directorate, OECD, who introduced the updated OECD.org website. The platform now offers open access to publications and data, enhanced search tools, streamlined thematic navigation, and advanced features for working with the OECD Data Explorer.
This webinar served as an important platform for providing Members of Parliament and staff of the Verkhovna Rada Secretariat with practical tools and knowledge. The insights gained will support more effective use of OECD resources in legislative work and international cooperation, while also promoting broader reliance on evidence-based analysis and statistical data in the decision-making process.
