Parliamentary Study on the Legislative Framework for Quality and Safety Standards for Donated Blood and Its Components in Ukraine, the European Union, and Selected European Countries

Abstract. This parliamentary study presents the results of an analysis of Ukrainian and European Union legislation concerning the quality and safety of donated blood and its components. It focuses on the key provisions of the Law of Ukraine “On the Safety and Quality of Donated Blood and Blood Components” and Regulation (EU) 2024/1938 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 13 June 2024 on quality and safety standards for substances of human origin intended for human use. The current state and trends in the development of legislation on the quality and safety of donated blood and its components in selected European countries (Austria, Poland, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Switzerland) are analysed.
