The leadership of the Research Service of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine held a meeting with Mr. Maximilian Schroeder, Head of the European Parliament Office in Kyiv.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the development of cooperation between the Research Service and European Parliament structures in the context of Ukraine’s European integration and the strengthening of the institutional capacity of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
Special attention was paid to the implementation of the initiative "Strengthening the Capacity of the Research Service of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to Support the Adaptation of National Legislation to EU Law", supported by the EU Project INTER PARES – Parliaments in Partnership and the Ukraine2EU – EU Programme for Supporting Ukraine’s European Integration.
Key topics of the dialogue included:
- Development of cooperation with the European Parliamentary Research Service (EPRS) and other structural units of the EP;
- Exchange of expertise in the field of legislative approximation to the EU acquis;
- Further joint educational and expert initiatives.
The leadership of the Research Service expressed its gratitude to the European Parliament for its systematic support, specifically highlighting the opportunity for staff of the Research Service and the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Secretariat to participate in the EP-Ukraine Knowledge Sharing Hub events and the EPRS Knowledge Sources professional webinar series.
The parties also reaffirmed their interest in deepening practical interaction between the parliamentary services of Ukraine and the European Parliament as a vital element in fostering a modern European parliamentary culture within the Secretariat of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
The Research Service continues to integrate actively into the European research and parliamentary space to enhance analytical support for the legislative process and for implementing Ukraine’s Euro-integration reforms.
