The Policy Workshop “2030 Blue Roadmap for the Black Sea” was held in Athens, Greece. The event was organized by the International Centre for Black Sea Studies (ICBSS) in cooperation with the CETMAR Foundation (Spain), within the framework of the EU-funded BRIDGE-BS project.

At the invitation of ICBSS Director General Mr. Georgios Mitrakos, Tetiana Druzhchenko, Head of the Foresight Sector in the Economic Development and Financial Policy Department of the Research Service of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, took part in the workshop.

The purpose of the event was to discuss and refine the draft “2030 Blue Roadmap for the Black Sea” – a strategic document developed on the basis of the BRIDGE-BS project results. The Roadmap outlines a set of concrete actions and policy recommendations aimed at advancing a sustainable blue economy in the Black Sea region, grounded in interdisciplinary scientific research.

The draft Roadmap is the outcome of a collaborative effort by 31 partner organizations involved in the BRIDGE-BS project. It outlines a comprehensive set of measures aimed at protecting marine ecosystems, promoting the sustainable use of natural resources, and enhancing climate resilience in the Black Sea region.

The workshop brought together representatives from government institutions, regional authorities, academic institutions, and civil society organizations across the Black Sea region, who jointly worked to tailor the proposed actions to the region’s specific priorities and policy needs.

The final version of the “2030 Blue Roadmap for the Black Sea” is scheduled for publication in November 2025.
