As part
of the systematic expansion of regional partnerships, a delegation from the
Research Service of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is on an official visit to
Bucharest, Romania. The visit marks the final stage of the initiative
"Strengthening the Capacity of the Research Service of the Verkhovna Rada
of Ukraine to Ensure the Adaptation of National Legislation to EU Law,"
implemented with the support of the INTER PARES | Parliaments in Partnership EU
Project.
The program of the visit to the Senate of
Romania, government agencies, and diplomatic institutions included a series of
substantive meetings dedicated to accession processes, parliamentary analytics,
and mechanisms for adapting legislation to the EU acquis.

During a meeting with Sorin Vlașin, President of
the Committee for economy, industry, services, tourism, and entrepreneurship of
the Senate of Romania, the parties discussed the role of parliamentary
committees in driving reforms and providing analytical support to the
legislative process.
Within the framework of the meeting with Nicolae
Miroslav Petrețchi, President of the "Romania - Ukraine"
Parliamentary Friendship Group, special attention was paid to developing
interparliamentary dialogue, supporting Ukraine on its path to EU membership,
and deepening bilateral cooperation. The discussion emphasized the crucial role
of parliament in securing reforms linked to the integration agenda, adapting
national legislation to the EU acquis, and exercising effective parliamentary
oversight over the implementation of relevant changes.
During consultations with the Legislative
General Directorate, the European Affairs Service, and the European Affairs
Committee of the Senate of Romania, the Ukrainian delegation familiarized
itself with the practices of legal evaluation of draft bills, monitoring the
implementation of EU directives, and institutional mechanisms supporting the
European integration process.
A dedicated session took place at the Ministry
of Justice of Romania, focusing on the practical aspects of implementing the EU
acquis, as well as mechanisms for interagency coordination during the
legislative approximation process.
The delegation also met with Ihor Prokopchuk,
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Romania, to discuss
the development of interparliamentary cooperation and priorities for analytical
support of reforms required for EU entry.
Serving as an important conclusion to a series
of study visits to the region, this mission to Romania allowed for the
synthesis of practical experience regarding legislative harmonization,
institutional coordination, and analytical support for parliamentary activities
in the context of Ukraine's EU accession process.
