On 23 June 2026, an educational webinar entitled “Direct Applicability of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union” was held within the framework of cooperation between the Research Service of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest, Hungary. The lecturer at the event was Sára Hungler, PhD, Professor at the Faculty of Law of Eötvös Loránd University.
During the webinar, participants considered the system of protection of the fundamental rights of EU citizens in European Union law, in particular the role of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the EU and the general principles of EU law. Particular attention was paid to Article 51 of the Charter, which defines its scope of application, as well as to the conditions under which the provisions of the Charter are binding on the Member States of the European Union.
In addition, the webinar addressed the relationship between the rights and principles enshrined in the Charter, as well as the specific features of their application at the national level.
