On November 26, 2024, a webinar on the topic "Analysis of the general structure of democracy in the EU" was organized within the framework of cooperation between the Research Service of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the Salzburg Centre of European Union Studies (Republic of Austria).

The presentation was made by Ms. Doris Wydra, Doctor of Law, Senior Research Fellow, and Executive Director of the Centre for European Union Studies at the University of Salzburg.

The lecturer told how the rule of law, the political rights of citizens, and the principles of democracy were ensured in the EU through the functioning of its key institutions. During the educational event, the decision-making mechanisms in the EU as well as the role of the European Parliament, the European Commission, the Council of the EU, and other bodies in supporting democratic processes were highlighted. Doris Wydra also considered the importance of citizen participation in the political processes of the Union, in particular through elections, petitions, and other forms of civic engagement.

Simultaneous translation of the webinar was arranged by the Association4U project which made the event available to a wide range of participants.
