On February 18, 2025, as part of the ongoing collaboration between the Research Service of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the Research Service of the Chamber of Deputies of the Italian Republic, an educational webinar was held, focusing on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in parliamentary activities.


Opening remarks were delivered by:

  • Dr. Giovanni Rizzoni, former Head of the Research Service of the Chamber of Deputies, currently Head of the Unit of Parliamentary Support and Capacity Building;
  • Dr. Lesia Vaolevska, Head of the Research Service of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.


Speakers:

  • Dr. Lorenzo Menconi, IT Service of the Chamber of Deputies;
  • Dr. Giovanni Ciccone, IT Service of the Chamber of Deputies;
  • Dr. Alberto Mencarelli, Research Service of the Chamber of Deputies.


During the webinar, participants explored:

- Improving access to infrastructure project data through AI;

- Using automatic speech recognition for parliamentary transcripts;

- AI-driven classification and analysis of legislative amendments;

- The role of AI in classifying documents using the EuroVoc system;

- Leveraging generative AI to improve understanding of legislative processes;

- Challenges and risks associated with integrating AI into parliamentary work;

- Future AI applications to support decision-making at the legislative level.
