Deputy Head of the Humanitarian and Social Policy Department of the Research Service of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Iryna Humenyuk, took part in the discussion of the study results on the best practices of European parliaments’ control functions on using the method of post-legislative control. She presented it upon the results of the study visit of the delegation of the Verkhovna Rada the Apparatus, the Research Service of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, and the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine to the National Assembly and the Senate of France.

The participants of the event shared information and knowledge about the legislative principles of post-legislative control carried out by the two chambers of the French Parliament, control of the implementation of laws and assessment of their impact on public relations, procedures for constant budget control, mechanisms of interaction between the Parliament and the Government during post-legislative control, etc.

There was an exchange of views on what’s valuable in the experience of the French parliament, and how it can be adapted and applied in the practice of legal monitoring by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

The working meeting was organized by the Westminster Foundation for Democracy with the support of the USAID Rada: Next Generation Program.
