Abstract. This parliamentary study analyses the current state of legal regulation governing the recording and use of individuals’ biometric data in Ukraine in the context of European integration and Ukraine’s commitments arising from the process of accession to the European Union. It examines the European Union’s approaches to the processing of biometric data as a special category of personal data, as well as the recommendations of the European Commission issued in the framework of the 2025 accession negotiations. The study identifies the main shortcomings of the regulatory framework governing the recording and use of biometric data, including the absence of a comprehensive legal framework, insufficient clarity regarding the legal grounds and purposes for data processing, data retention periods, access procedures, and independent oversight. It also outlines directions for the further development of legislation in this area and proposes a concept for a dedicated law.

Abstract. This informational reference analyses the current state of implementation in Ukraine of European Union law concerning the rights, support and protection of victims of criminal offences. It examines the implementation of the relevant measures set out in the Rule of Law Roadmap, as well as the existing legal and institutional mechanisms for supporting victims. The analysis also outlines areas for further improvement of legislation and mechanisms for the protection of victims’ rights in the context of approximating Ukrainian legislation to European Union law.
