The visit took place at the invitation of Anders Rasmussen, Deputy Secretary General of the European Parliament – the Directorate General of Research Services of the European Parliament.

On December 2–4 in Brussels, the delegation of the Research Service of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (Lesia Vaolevska, Head, Andrii Vitrenko, Advisor to the Head, Anna Kondratova, Head of the Department, Oleksandr Kolosov, Chief Scientific Adviser and Tetiana Druzhchenko, Chief Scientific Adviser) had the opportunity to get acquainted with the key areas of work of European partners on some issues related to ensuring the work of the Members of the European Parliament and its Secretariat. Thus, at the meetings with the heads of the relevant divisions of the European Parliamentary Research Service (EPRS), they discussed the general principles of the institution’s work and its cooperation with national parliaments; the powers of the European Parliament committees and assistance in their work by the EPRS; determining the client’s needs and establishing communications with them; publishing researches; organizing work in the areas of foresight and the future of science and technology (STOA); organizing webinars on important issues of the European Union functioning, which MPs of Ukraine, employees of the Secretariat of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the Research Service have the opportunity to join, etc.

Members of the Research Service delegation also met with Armelle Douaud, Director for Democracy Support, DG EXPO, European Parliament, and agreed to deepen cooperation in the context of continuing joint training events on topical issues of the committees of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the European Parliament, respectively.

The EPRS team was presented with the main activities of the Research Service of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, its structure and tasks, principles of its work, methods of developing analytical and information materials, as well as the RS development strategy until 2027.
